I would like to personally congratulate Kelley Green on winning her by election in Cambridges’s Petersfield ward last week. I got to know Kelley well over the campaign and I know she will make a fine representative for local residents.
I spent the evening of polling day ‘getting out the vote’ which is where political parties knock on their supporters doors to remind them to cast their ballot. I was struck by how Kelley had developed a personal relationship with so many voters in such a short space of time. She was able to both get to know people well and listen deeply to their concerns. The second thing that struck me was the number of Labour activists on the ground doing their bit to achieve a victory. In particular I would like to thank all South Cambs members who came and helped out every week of the campaign.
With every leaflet delivered, every door we knocked on and every conversation we had, we made our victory more likely.
