Responding to Brexit

After weeks of campaigning South Cambridgeshire voted overwhelmingly to remain in the EU - but the country as a whole disagreed.

There was an 81% turnout in South Cambs with Remain picking up 60% of the vote.

South Cambs Labour chairman John Beresford said: "The result of the EU Referendum is not good for Britain, and not good for South Cambridgeshire. We can only hope that the threat to the prosperity and investment in the country, and in particular our part of it, is temporary. Dave Cameron has reaped the reward of trying to appease the right wing of his party at the expense of the country as a whole. The country has given its verdict.

"Can I thank Labour supporters for their support in bringing about a sensible result in our own locality, in particular the team led by Linda de Chenu who knocked on so many doors and brought the message of economic good sense to so many voters."
